i'm just gonna take a minute

Friends, I am blogging a ridiculous amount lately. What is up with that? I do not know but in any case, I have recommendations! For the music lovers among us! Because I am a nut who is interested in more music than I have time for. Seriously, I should post the list of artists and albums that I'm interested in and still have not gotten around to finding.

Anyway. Recommendations.

I'm recommending that everyone here check out two different podcasts from NPR. One is called 'All Songs Considered' and the other one is 'Live Concerts From All Songs Considered.' These podcasts are fabulous. Also? They have my favorite characteristic of being, you know, free. Which, as a starving college student, I'm totally into. They've got a great range of artists and they do a thing that a lot of other music blogs/podcasts don't, which is covering artists who aren't from the US as well. Right now, as I am typing this, I'm watching one of their Tiny Desk Concerts from K'Naan, who is a Somali musician. He's brilliant. His music? So gorgeous, often really quite sad. Folks, you should all listen to him. Because he is awesome. I'll add a song at the end of this post. Anyway, NPR. Awesome. Also, since concerts are really quite expensive and I'm never in the right area at the right time to catch the artists I like anyway, it's great that NPR records and podcasts such a number of concerts. Basically I adore this podcast. Music and it's free and pretty broadspectrum in what it covers. So, yeah, awesome!

Ok, that was all a lot less coherent than I would have wished but it is morning here and I don't sleep very much anymore it seems, so I'm out of it and also rushing. I've got critique in about an hour and half, so I've got to get moving soon so I can get to class on time. Blerg.

But now? K'Naan! He's a bit of a rapper, which, for those of you who know me, know that's not really something I'm typically interested. But somehow, his stuff is great. Also, any musician who references Nelson Mandela and Gandhi in his music is pretty much awesome in my book. So without further ado, here's some K'Naan for you. What do you think?

Ooh, Dwyn Dwyn is branching out in her musical tastes! :)
He seems pretty good. Not really my personal taste, but that might just be about my weird mood right now.
Love you,
